You will also find a large number of communications presented at the International Conference on Animal Circoviruses and Associated Diseases, European Society for Veterinary Virology, Belfast, 2005, that confirm that maternal immunity has a role.

Another paper to note, shows a correlation of cell-mediated immunity against porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus with protection against reproductive failure in sows during outbreaks of porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome in commercial herds.

There are a number of interesting publications around Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae, one of the main respiratory pathogenic agents dealing with detection, epidemiology and vaccination. Another important part of the bulletin is dedicated to PRRSV sequence and its significance in terms of epidemiology and protection.
     New data about epidemiology and vaccination against classical swine fever are also available as well as an interesting piece of work showing that precocity of diagnosis by veterinarians is a very important factor for minimizing possible spread of the infection.

The efficacy comparison between conventional C-strain ML vaccines (Pestiffa) and sub-unit marker vaccines in the scope of emergency ring vaccination appears particularly interesting to decide for a European strategy.

The bulletin uses a variety of sources, and included in this issue are papers from the 1st Asian Pig Veterinary Society meeting held in Seoul, September 2003, the Association Fran?oise de Medecine Veterinaire Porcine, France, December 2003 and the 2003 Allen Lehman Swine Conference. Other topics covered include economics, food safety and bioterrorism.

在本公告牌中： There is a lot of information in this issue. Very briefly, PRRS virus (PRRSV) is confirmed to induce immunomodulation. Several papers have confirmed that CD8+ T lymphocytes play an important role in the defense against PRRSV.

PRRSV is also claimed to interfere with Swine influenza inactivated vaccines. This goes in the same direction as the previous findings of the same team (E. Thacker et al., ISU, Ames, IA) which showed an interference between PRRSV infection and M. hyo vaccination.

On the forefront of PCV2 research, among other topics under debate, the type of cell where the virus primarily replicates and the link between immuno-stimulation and PCV2 diseases are said to be still unknown.

You will find a summary of the current leptospirosis health status of European countries, three articles on CSF, including a focus on Asia, and two on swine influenza. There is work on dual infection with PRRS and PRC and work on strain specificity and the immune response of pigs vaccinated against PRRS. There are six articles on PCV2/PMWS. Sow productivity and production in Italy and China are covered along with several articles on parasites.
