Improvement of productivity using Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae vaccine.

The use of HYORESP®, Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae inactivated and adjuvanted vaccine (Merial), in a herd affected by chronic respiratory disease proved highly effective in controlling Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae as well as secondary infection like Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae. An improvement of productivity in the herd was clearly observed. HYORESP® is to be considered as a useful tool for the control of enzootic pneumonia and a means of improving herd productivity. However the choice of the best vaccination program should be made according to the type of herds and time of natural infection within a herd.
