Necrosis of the Skin
(472) Necrosis means that the cells and surrounding tissues have died. (Fig.10-19) It arises in one of three ways, from pressure on the skin from the environment, trauma causing necrosis of the teats, knees and the tail, or as a sequel to infectious diseases. It is common in the sucking pig.

This can cause severe pain and lameness.

This can be so severe that most of the ear is lost.
