AUSTRALIA - Biosecurity Australia (BA), the agency responsible for import protocols, admits it will take time and hard work to regain the confidence of rural Australia.Farmers are angry over the approval of beef imports from Brazil, where there has been foot-and-mouth disease, and pork from countries with the disease PMWS.
A CSIRO report says there is a 95 to 99 per cent risk of an outbreak of PMWS in Australia in the next 10 years if pork imports from affected countries continue.
