AUSTRALIA - After months of building tension, a row boiled over this morning between pork producers and Australia's quarantine watchdog.Earlier this year producers won a legal battle against Biosecurity Australia over its decision to recommend more pork imports be allowed into the country.
The Federal Court was scathing of the agency's risk analysis, finding it was not scientifically sound and posed a quarantine risk.
But the Federal Agriculture Department has further angered farmers by planning to appeal against that judgment and the anger erupted at a Rural Press Club breakfast in Brisbane this morning, as Dea Clark reports.
